People across the world are turning amateur photos into elaborate works of art with a new viral app that relies on AI technology to let users instantly transform mundane images into Picasso paintings.
The Prisma iOS app is unique in the way that it relies on a “combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence” to remake the image. It goes through different layers and recreates the photo from scratch, according to the app makers, who are based in Moscow. The app is easy to use and functions similarly to Instagram, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app that has more than 400 million users.
The developers are also working on expanding its filter technology to video, with an innovation that hasn’t been done before in any sophisticated manner.
Prisma could be used on different digital marketing campaigns that target the younger generations.
